If you are trying to loose weight you are going to have to count your calories.You have to be mentally conscious about the calories that you are consuming to be able to loose any significant amount of weight and be able to keep it off.
In the beginning you should keep a food journal to keep track of your calories. It takes about a good month for you to get used to your calorie intake, after that it probably will be second nature to estimate the certain amount of calories in a particular food.
Keep your daily calorie intake between 1,400 to 1,700 if you are active and you are trying to loose weight. If you are seeking to gain weight and you are active you should consume between 1,900 to 2,800 calories depending on your weight gain goals you are trying to meet.

To effectively loose weight or gain weight you have to have a plan if you want to do it the healthy way. Be sure to put all of your fitness goals in writing. Before you know it you will be a calorie expert and you will know exactly want you are putting in your body.
