Have you been overweight for some time and you think that Gastric Bypass may be for you? You should try to make this a last ditch effort to loose weight. Their are many questions that one must ask themselves before they commit to a surgery of this magnitude.
If you may have tried to eat smaller portions even under a doctors supervision, then this surgery may be for you. The way the surgery works is that it makes your stomach much smaller and allows some of your food to bypass part of your small intestines.
The surgery will force you to eat much smaller meals than you are accustomed to. If you try to eat more than your stomach can handle it will cause you to gag. Which would be your body's way of telling you that you need to stop eating.
If you choose to have this kind of surgery
* You will have to avoid foods that contain a lot of sugars. Like ice cream, cookies.......ect
* You have to be able to adjust to only being able to eat very small portions because your stomach will only hold a small amount of food.
* Food must be eaten very slowly , if you don't you will end up vomiting and have severe stomach pain.
* Adding supplements and vitamins to your diet is a must.
The change is more mental than anything because you will have to train your mind that you can't eat as much as your used too. This will take some time but believe me your stomach will let you know. Most people that get this type of surgery has been overweight for over 5 years. If you have tried all other methods to loose weight and I mean all methods this should be your very last resort.
