Eat slower for weight loss
Do you remember growing up and at dinner time your mom would always tell you to finish your entire plate? When you would eat your food slow, she would think something was wrong with the food she had cooked?
Most of us were taught at a young age to whiff down our food and clean our plates. As you get older this will get you in trouble if you are not careful. Our parents were just trying to do the right thing by not wanting us to waste food, so we can't get mad at them.
Try this the next time you eat
The next time that you get to eat that next meal at the dinner table, I want you to eat slower than you normally would. One thing that I have noticed is that when you eat this way, you will feel full much quicker than if you were to eat fast. When you eat fast your brain doesn't really register how much you have ate, which causes you to overeat and gain additional weight.
When you eat slower your mind has time to register in the brain to tell you to stop eating!
Remember!
Eating fast will cause you to overeat!
Tips on how to eat slowly
- Turn off the TV and eat at the dinner table. This may be hard if you are used to watching TV, but on average it takes only 10 to 20 minutes to eat a meal. So just record your favorite shows. Most people eat more while watching TV.
- Drink a glass of water before you dig into that plate. When you do this your stomach will feel full, which will cause you to eat slower and not so much food.
- If you are eating at the table with someone, come up for air and have a conversation with them. Having a little conversation between bites will keep you from eating fast.
- Slow down and taste the food an all of the different flavors that it has. A lot of the times we are eating so fast that we really don't enjoy the food.
- Never eat when you are stressed. This will not only cause you to eat fast, but eat the wrong kind of unhealthy foods. So don't do it!
Enjoy slow eating
I know that life can be stressful, but your dinner table should be a place where you can relax and enjoy a good meal with people that you care about. Being relaxed has a lot to do with how you eat your food. So remember to relax, eat slow, and enjoy your food to loose weight!
