Their are some things that you should know if you plan on joining a gym or currently active in a gym. These are some simple but mostly overlooked things that will help get more out of your gym workouts.

Poor form

You can get seriously injured in the gym if you are training using poor form. For instance, if you have your hands placed too far apart it could cause you to pull a muscle. That's why having correct form at all times s very important. If you are not sure if you are using the proper form, ask one of the fitness consultants at your gym. They will be glad to assist you.

Change your workout routines

It's OK if you like to do certain routines when you go to the gym. If you never change your routines you will soon reach a plateau and grow bored with your workouts. The last thing that you want to do is to loose all of your gains because of boredom.

To combat this change your workout routines every week, this keeps your workouts fresh and increases your physical gains.

Focus I repeat "Focus"

You need to have your mind focused on working out. Not doing so will open you up to injuries that can be avoided just by being focused. The great thing about going to the gym is that they have so many different things that you can do to get your mind off of stress. I have saw many injuries by people who were not focused while being in the gym. So before you hit the weights, clear your mind first!

Be realistic in your goals

Is your goal to loose 20 pounds? This is a great goal to have, but not so great if you want to lose it in a week! Give yourself realistic goals that you can easily attain. It will be much easier to loose 5 pounds in a weeks time. That's why so many people never keep their gym memberships up, they just have way too many unrealistic goals. Adjust your goals as you go and you will be fine.

Proper gym manners

What ever happened to good old fashion manners! Have you ever been working out in the gym and you have your favorite machine that you are waiting to use. When you finally get to your machine, the person that used it before never wiped the machine down at all. Just plain nasty! I have a word that I call these people, but I will not go their today! lol

The moral of the story, please wipe the machine down when you finish!

Don't overdue it

We all have seen this type of person in the gym. They are so motivated a n gung ho in the beginning and the enthusiasm quickly fades. The reason their motivation didn't last long was because they started off too strong. You have to ease yourself into working out at the gym. Start off slow and make your increase as you progress in you workouts. Take this step and you will get where you want to be.

Make the proper adjustments on the machines to your body size

Most of the exercise equipment in the gym will accommodate just about any body size and shape. You need to make sure that you make the proper adjustment when you get to that machine. Not doing so can lead to injury.

 *Remember*
It only takes a second to make that adjustment!

Proper cool down after your workout

Don't get so wrapped up in your workouts that you forget to cool down and stretch your muscles. This keeps your body loose and limber.

*Remember*
It only takes about a good 5 minutes to cool down and you are on your way.
