Running is a great way to loose weight an get rid of all those unwanted pounds that you have gained. Did you know that running greatly increases your cardio and endurance.
If you are just getting started in a running program their are some things that you should know about before you begin to burn off all of the fat and turn your body into a fat burning machine.
Remember to stretch
Make sure that you do a full body stretch. You should also make sure that you focus on your lower body stretches.
*Hamstrings*
*Calf muscles*
*Thighs*
*IT Bands*
This is basic hamstring stretch that should be done before EVERY run. If you don't stretch your hamstrings your risk of getting cramps or getting injured. So always stretch!
Think about it, you are mainly using your hamstrings when you are running. Pay special attention to your IT Bands (Iliotibial Bands) this is the strip of muscle located on the side of your thighs. It is caused by the way your feet are striking the ground. A way to alleviate this problem is to make sure that your running shoes are not overly worn. Their is also a stretch that you should also do each and every time that you run.
This is the proper way to stretch your IT Bands
Your running shoes should be able to last you 2 to 3 months. When they start to get worn make sure that you replace then as soon as possible, because if you continue to wear them they will cause you leg problems.
When you are running you will want to have your mind on peaceful things. If you have a lot of things on your mind you will be easy for you to catch cramps, muscles to tighten up and you will not be running at peak form which will greatly effect your weight loss goals.
If you are pretty new to running you will need to pace yourself. Their is no need to show off and overdue it especially in the beginning. If you run 1 to 2 miles our to five days a week, you will be able to loose 2 to 3 pounds per week if you are eating a healthy balance diet.
The first week you will notice a difference in your metabolism. If running is hard on you right now, you can start off by walking then jogging and finally work your way up to running. Before you know it you will be running miles and it won't even feel like it.
Don't forget to write down your running goals. Start off slow and work your way up.
The weight will come off!
