Set realistic goals
1. Make sure that you set goals that you can reach, saying that you want to loose 30 pounds in a week is not going to happen. It's good to keep your weight loss goals written down where you can view them frequently. You can safely loose 2 to 3 pounds per week. Would you rather loose it fast and gain it back or loose it slow and keep it off? Try to keep your goals long term to ensure success.
Drink plenty of water
2. Did you know that you are suppose to drink 8 glasses of water a day? Most people rarely enough water. Not only does it clean out your system, but it will also keep you from overeating. If you drink 1 cold glass of cold water before dinner, you will eat 30 to 35 percent less than what you normally would . Their should be no excuses with this one, because you can get it for free or a cheap price.
Walk around your neighborhood
3. This one is a no-brainer, especially on those nice pretty days outside when the weather is great. You will burn off some of those calories. Not only is this good exercise, but it's a good way to clear your mind if you have had one of those long days. So what are you waiting for, put on those shoes and start walking.
Get away from negative people
4. I like to call these kind of people "weight loss killers" they are people that have nothing but negative things to say about you wanting to loose weight. Hanging around people like this will actually have you thinking negative thoughts about what you are trying to accomplish. They will tell you things like.........
- You are wasting your time.
- You are not going to reach your goals.
- Loosing weight is too hard.
- You are getting too skinny.........ect
Buy yourself a jump rope
5. Did you know that you can burn close to 700 to 800 calories an hour from jump roping? They are very cheap, you can get a good jump rope for about $10 so the money shouldn't be the issue. This is a very simple exercise that can be done on any flat surface. The learning curve is pretty fast and before you know it you will be able to do all kinds of tricks with the rope. It will not only improve your stamina, but also greatly improve your coordination. Who says you need a lot of money to loose weight. All you need is just to add will power!
Hill running
6. Hill running is a great way for you to get in shape and loose weight. One important thing to remember about running up the hill is that it's best to jog when you are going back down to prevent injury. This is also a great lower body workout because you are working your thighs, hamstrings, calf and butt muscles. Start off slow in the beginning until you get used to it. Then when you get used to it, go for it............
Got any old tires?
7. This exercise is for people that may have lost some weight, but may have reached a weight loss plateau. I guarantee that this exercise will get you over the hump so you can get those last stubborn pounds off. By pulling a tire you will be using basically every muscle in your body. Tire pulling is not for the week of heart. If you are just getting started, try to pull the tire no more than 10 yards. Increase your intervals by 5 yards, until you have mastered each increase. Doing this exercise 2 to 3 times a week will have you burning calories even while you are sleeping. We all know someone that has an old tire that they are not using, put it to good use!
Get back on that treadmill!
8. Be honest, do you have a treadmill that is sitting in the corner of your room with clothes hanging on it. You have a fat burning machine in your room, just waiting for you to get on it. Did you know that you can burn anywhere from 500 to 700 calories an hour running on the treadmill. If you really want to burn some serious calories you could put on some ankle weights or a weight vest to really get you in great shape. This is a great place to start if you want to rid yourself of all those unwanted pounds. Don't wait one more day, take those clothes off the treadmill and get busy.
Join your local gym
9. The great thing about joining your local gym is that their are so many different things that you can do their. Today's gyms have basketball courts, swimming pools, racquetball courts and aerobic classes. If you are a beginner, they even offer in-house personal trainers that will get you in the best shape of your life. Most gyms these days have plans that will fit just about any budget. Don't worry about getting bored because they have so many different exercise equipment that will workout the entire body. Some select gyms even offer no contract and you pay month to month for all of you who hate contracts. Joining a gym is a win/win situation.

Do your own lawn work
11. Instead of paying someone to do your lawn work for you, keep the money and do it yourself. Not only will you have a good looking lawn, but you will save a lot of money and loose weight too. Yard work is something that is usually overlooked when it comes to loosing weight. Did you know that you can burn anywhere from 400 to 700 calories from doing yard work? That's a lot of calories! This is something that has to be done frequently in the warmer months, so that means you can use this as part of your weekly tools to staying shape. So stop looking at doing your yard work as a choir and look at it as a weight loss tool that will help you reach your goals quicker.
Cut out the sugar
12. Sugar is not your friend when you are trying to loose weight. Breaking the sugar addiction can be as hard as a drug addict breaking a drug addiction. The best way to break a sugar addiction is not to have it around you at all. This means getting it completely out of your kitchen. They have many substitute sweeteners that you can use that doesn't have the same effect as real sugar. I like to put honey on some of my food when I just have to taste something sweet. If you cut sugar out of your diet you are almost guaranteed to loose the weight.
Cut back on the meat
13. We all know that meat is good, but you must cut back on it if you are trying to loose weight, especially my old time favorite which was red meat. Some meats like steaks, hamburger meat, and pork chops are very hard for the body to digest. The longer that your body holds on to this type of food, the harder it is to digest and the longer it will take you to work it off.
If you are going to eat meat, eat meat that is easier to digest!

14. If you plan on loosing weight then by all means you must stop smoking. I know that this is a very bad habit that is hard to break. I used to smoke cigars before I lost weight. Luck was on my side because I was able to quit cold turkey when I made up my mind that I was going to loose the weight. Their are many of you that will not be able to quit that easy. Their are many things that are out their these days to help you break this nasty habit.

15. If you are at work take advantage of your lunch break by going for a walk. This is also a good way to relieve job stress and also burn off some calories to loose weight. Even small amounts of exercise like this can go a very long way over time. This will also keep you from getting tired when it is time to go back to work.
Start your own fitness group
16. Are you the type of person that is a natural born leader? Why not start you own fitness group? You will be able to get like minded individuals together for the goal of loosing weight as a group.This is a great thing to do because it keeps you and members of your group motivated to loose as much weight as possible. Don't worry, you shouldn't have any problems getting people wanting to join your group because their are so many people that want to loose weight. Who knows? If you get passionate about this you could turn it into a business!
Don't always view yourself as being fat!
17.This one is VERY important. If you always view yourself as being an overweight person, it will be very hard to loose weight and keep it off. You can change your current weight, but you have to believe it can be done. Thinking this way will help you greatly when times get tough an you are thinking of giving up on your weight loss goals. Always remember that you can only go as far as your mind will let you go when it comes to weight loss, so don't let your mind work against you.
Cut back on the alcohol
18. Alcohol is not your friend when it comes to weight loss. This is something that may be difficult for you if you are a frequent drinker. A good way to combat this problem is to not even keep alcohol around you, limit you drinking to one time per week. A good thing about when you start to workout , you really won't want to drink all of that alcohol because it will seriously dehydrate you. So just put down the alcohol and drink water instead.
Get a personal trainer
19. A personal trainer can guide you through the process of getting back in shape and loosing the weight. Most personal trainers are very knowledgeable on topics such as weight loss, diet, exercise and ways to keep your self motivated. If you are the kind of person that needs direction when it comes to weight loss then a trainer is a must for you. make sure that the trainer that you choose is the right one for you. Interview several trainers before you make your final decision.
Stop saying "I want to loose weight"
20. This is a big problem that I have with a lot of people. They always say that they want to loose weight, but never put forth the effort at all to loose the weight. This is when you have to have a plan and action, because you can have as many plans as yo want but with no action it's not going to happen. Most people want to loose weight and be healthy, but if you are reading this you have a serious desire to do so. The ball is always in your court, so act on it!
Eat more vegetables
21. I know that eating more vegetables can be tough for a lot of people, especially if you are not used to eating them. If you plan on loosing weight this is something that you must do. You will not only feel the difference, but you will see yourself getting smaller by the week. So how can you not eat more vegetables?
Buy some clothes that are too small?
22. This is such a great technique to loose weight, that I tell everyone to do this. Say for instance that you are a woman and you wear a size 14 dress, go out and buy yourself a size 8 or 9. This will give you a goal and motivation to loose weight, which a lot of people are lacking these days.
One way to really motivate yourself would be to trash the tags and receipts from the clothes you purchased. You will either look sexy in the clothes that you bought when you drop the weight or a fool for wasting your money. Hey! It's up to you.
Make time to exercise
23. A lot of people say that their is just not enough time in the day to exercise. This is so untrue! You only need about a good 30 minutes of exercise and it doesn't necessarily have to be all at one time. Break it up into 10 minute or 15 minute blocks. Everyone has time to exercise, you just have to make time. Ask yourself is your health and well-being worth 30 minutes a day? Easy question isn't it?
Plan more family activities
24. Now I'm not talking about activities like going to the movies and stuffing your face with all that buttery popcorn and candy. Their just so many physical activities that you can do as a family.

- Bike riding
- Walking
- Swimming
Add supplements and vitamins to your diet
25. Supplements and vitamins will give your body the extra boost that it needs when you start to exercise and loose weight. Make sure that you do your homework, because their is so much junk out their these days. They are and absolute must if you plan on loosing weight because it will help give you extra energy for those vigorous workouts.
Purchase yourself a set of DVD workouts
26. Purchasing your own workout DVD is a great thing to do especially if going to the gym doesn't appeal to you. Workout DVD workouts can be done in the comfort of your own home, so their is no need to impress anyone or compete with them. Their are so many out their right now that you will find something that fits your taste.
Don't be afraid to ask for help!
27. If you want to start loosing weight, but don't know where to start, just ask somebody . This is something that I struggled with in the beginning when i was overweight. I used to think that people would ridicule me for being overweight, but when I finally found the courage to ask someone for help, I had more than enough people to show me the right way to go to loose weight. Don't be shy ask for help.
Find your motivation
28. Finding your motivation is what will help you loose the weight and also keep it off too. Most people that loose a ton of weight end up gaining it back because they have one serious flaw, they lacked motivation! So find out what really motivates you to loose the weight. You should post it on your wall. Also you will only go as far as your motivation will take you.
Stop ignoring your food labels
29. Get into the habit of reading your food labels. You will be very surprised at what you have been putting in you body. Their are so many packaged processed foods that cause people to gain weight, many are loaded with excess salt and sugars. If you get into the habit of looking at the labels it will be second nature to you. So, the next time your at the grocery store, slow down and read the labels.
30. Did you know that your weight scale itself can actually cause you to gain weight? Say for instance that you have been loosing weight all week, but you have been jumping on the scale daily. You may have noticed that your weight fluctuates from day to day, if you are not a strong person this may cause you to give up. Only get on the scale one time a week, then make your proper adjustments.
Stop drinking so much sugar
31. This was one of my guilty pleasures when I was overweight. This tip is a fairly easy one, just substitute those sugary drink treats with water. Those sweet drinks do nothing but cause you to store fat. In the future if you need something sweet, just eat some fresh fruit instead.
Participate in your kids sports
32. Does your kid participate in any youth sports activities? Why not help them out by being a coach? it would be a lot of fun, plus you will be staying in shape by running around and coaching the kids. You will not only be staying in shape , but you could teach a lot to the kids that will have a long lasting impression on them.
Switch up your diet
33. Eating the same foods over and over gets to be pretty boring after a while. Say for instance your are a really big sandwich lover, instead of eating the same kind of sandwich. Switch it up! This keep you from getting bored with your diet and going back to your old eating habits which caused you to gain all of that weight in the first place. Don't forget to change it up!
Know your daily calorie intake
34. If you are going to loose weight you must cut back on your calories. you should be eating anywhere from 1400 to 1700 calories per day with exercise included. Your days of eating 2500 or more calories per day should be history of you plan on loosing weight. Take it slow, decrease your calories each week until you reach your targeted amount. This will take some time to get used to but you can do it.
Change your current lifestyle
35. Ask yourself this question, is my current lifestyle going to help me loose weight? if not change it fast. If you have a very sedimentary lifestyle, start getting active. What you have been doing so far is not working at all, change the game up!
Purchase a fitness video game
36. Their are many different kinds of fitness video games that you can purchase these days. These games will get you moving and off the couch. Not only will you get to burn off some calories, you could also have some fun with your kids for a change. Most of the new fitness games have many of levels to keep you from getting bored.
Do your shopping at the mall
37. Have you ever went to the mall very early and seen people power walking in the mall. This is a very good way to help you loose eight. it just never gave it any thought that you could go to the mall to get exercise. This is also a great idea if you are going shopping. Instead of going to just a couple of stores, why not get your exercise in and walk the entire mall.
Don't hang around "Weight loss killers"
38. We know who these people are! Sometimes it could even be one of your close family members. They will tell you that you are just wasting your time trying to loose weight. if you listen to them long enough you will start believing them. The best way to handle a situation like this is to tell them that you respect how you feel' but this is something that I have to do for myself and move on. It's as simple as that!
Workout first thing in the morning
39. If you are a morning type of person, why not start it off with a good morning workout? By doing this you will have more energy in the morning and if you are eating properly you will be burning calories all day long.This method only seems to work if you are a morning person so if you are, take advantage of it. You have nothing to loose but the weight.
Cut back on the salt
40. I was eating dinner with a friend that I haven't seen in a while. We were about to eat our food at a nice restaurant. He piles his food with a bunch of salt! He later tells me that he needs to loose weight because of his high blood pressure. Salt is not good for the body because it causes you to retain water and it will spike up your blood pressure. their are plenty of alternatives to use to add flavor to your food. make a wise choice and use them instead.
Write down your weight loss goals
41. If you are trying to drop the weight, it's very hard to do so if you don't have any goals that are written down. It gives you something to strive for! You should also place these goals in an area where they can be viewed frequently. Without goals their is no direction and you will most likely fail in the weight loss game. Do this from the very beginning and you will be much more successful.
Why not get a job at your local gym?
42. If you are trying to loose weight and would like to learn much more about working out and living a much healthier lifestyle, why not just get a job at the gym? You will be able to learn about working out from the ground floor. Maybe you could start off part-time and if you like it you could turn this into a full time career. The sky is the limit!
Stick with your own diet plan
43. Have you ever went out to eat with some friends and you just ate whatever everyone else was eating? I have actually seen people just totally ditch their eating plans because of the influence around them. Don't let this be you! You work too hard to loose all of the weight only to be influences by people who may not care as much as you about loosing weight.
Sneak your own snacks in the movie theater
44. Now I know I might get in trouble for this one! As we all know movie theater food is good, but it's loaded with saturated fats. Now I'm speaking for myself on this one. What I like to do is to pack myself a nice fresh subway sandwich. You may be asking yourself, "Where does he put a sandwich?" In my wife's purse. No one would find it in their! lol My point is this, just because you are going to the movie theater doesn't mean that you have to eat unhealthy. This is at your own risk.

47. Could you imagine how imagine how hard it would be to workout without any music? Playing your favorite music just motivated you to put more into your workouts. It really doesn't matter what type of music it is as long as it pumps you up and gets you moving, that's what really counts. for me personally their is just something special about pumping Jay Z through my speakers that puts my workouts in overdrive. So what ever your favorite music is ..........crank it up!
Last resort (Gastric Bypass Surgery)
48. I think that getting gastric bypass surgery should be the last thing that you should try to do to loose weight. If you have tried all of the diets, weight loss drugs, and counseling and this didn't seem to work. Gastric bypass is a surgery that will restrict the pathway to your stomach. It will force you to eat smaller amounts of food which will cause you to loose weight. You should consult with your doctor to see if this is a good option for you to take.
