When should I eat more protein?

Their is a big debate about when should you eat more protein? Protein is very essential to our everyday diet. Their are many diets out their that claim that you will loose so much weight by eating nothing but mainly protein all day. This is true to a certain extent!

 We all know that the old saying that protein intake will help you build muscle tissue faster. This is not true! You only need small portions of protein daily, but you actually build up muscle tissue through exercise not mainly by loading your body down with protein. This is also a proven fact.

You only need no more than 7oz of protein a day and this is for adults, so kids need even less protein. The fact is that you will loose weight eating a high protein - low carb diet, but are you ready for the high saturated fat and artery clogging that comes from eating all of that meat? Probably not!

What I hope you take away from this is that eating more protein is just another short term fix to fix a long term problem. You have to think about all of the long term effects this may have on your health.

This fad will too pass. What are your thoughts on this?
